Be Covered Texas: The Power of Partnership
In 2013, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) launched Be Covered Texas (BCT), a statewide outreach campaign aimed at helping the state’s uninsured population understand the health care law. In its first year, the campaign equipped and mobilized over 150 community partners with educational resources in both English and Spanish.
In 2014, Be Covered 2.0 was launched. As an organization, we recognized that while we needed to continue educating our communities on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the options available to individuals, we could also contribute to educating first-time consumers on how to effectively use their coverage. With that aim in mind, the campaign added educational materials such as: how to use your insurance card, how to talk to your doctor, and the importance of preventive services among others.
Through the BCT campaign, BCBSTX helped Texans by working with community partners and reaching consumers where they live, worship, text, tweet and gather.
